Mental Health Services
One of the forgotten groups when it comes to mental health services is the armed forces. They suffer from mental health like any other group so this service is vital offering treatment for disorders such as post traumatic stress syndrome. This is performed by the defence mental health services which have a large range of experience in treating mental health issues caused by serving in the army with the main goal being to rehabilitate them fully.
In the theatre of combat there are trained mental health professionals offering mental health services to those in need. They get ongoing assessments and treatment if it is required to ensure they are full fit for service. This health service is available before, during and after a serviceman or women is deployed to theatre. For those who believe they are suffering they can ask for help from any medical officer even while on active duty.
There are out-patients treatments which are community based offering health services that assess and treat when and how it is needed. These follow NHS guidelines on treating mental health issues. There is a number of community mental health departments located throughout the UK and overseas which offer the mental health services needed. These are located in large military centres. They are staffed by a range of different health professionals such as psychiatrists and mental health nurses and social workers ensuring that anyone suffering will get the help they need.
With these mental health services available it clearly shows the support that the MOD places on the mental health of its service personnel. They like everyone else can suffer from mental health problems especially seeing and doing what they do. This makes the mental health services for service personnel absolutely vital.
